My stay at Au Nid du Thil: Beauvais

My stay in Beauvais was a short but enjoyable one. I arrived late in Beauvais after a short flight from Dublin. Originally wanting to take a bus to my hotel I found the bus stop at a time where there wouldn’t be one arriving for another 40 minutes! I ended up in a taxi and 15 euro later I was at my hotel. Thankfully the owner Ardouin had waited up for me or I wouldn’t have been able to find the place. Despite being dropped out right in front of it, there wasn’t much signage and it simply looked a row of houses all the same.

Greeted by Ardouin in the hall, he then ushered me into my room. It was beautiful. Quite spacious with a full sized bed, a small fridge, an eating area with all the cutlery, dishes, and small appliances you may need, and a vanity off to the other side. Behind pocket doors was the bathroom – a good size with a sink, toilet, and shower with a large shower head.

If you do decide to bus or drive to the Au Nid du Thil – it is very easy to find. Right on the main road – at 65 Rue Notre Dame du Thil. This road then turns into Rue de Clermont as you get closer to the city. You can easily walk from the hotel into Beauvais city – it took be 10-15 minutes. You can see my post A Day in Beauvais for different things to do there. Known as the city of art and history, it is certainly worth the visit.

Can I work remotely from here?

You certainly could get some work done – I did – but not long term. There isn’t much table space and apart from your room itself, the hotel doesn’t have much to offer. It is more of a BnB. There is no formal reception area or common areas, so while you’re there you’re bound to the room itself. There is stable wifi and your room is comfortable so for a couple days it’s perfect.

Other Information

  • Prices range from 50-70 euro per night
  • The wifi is completely free
  • Breakfast is included (bread, teas, coffee, variety of jams and cheeses, cereal and granola bars)
  • There is a very friendly cat named Mimi (or Mini) that you may see in the hallway
  • They take all major credit cards.

Disclosure: I was a media guest for Au Nid du Thil and was offered a discounted rate during my stay.
